Summary: It's the object of study analyze the construction and emergence of a discourse
around the so-called "sustainable development" in the state of Espirito Santo during the 2000s within the evaluation of official government documents. It is used particularly the "zoneamento ecologico-econômico" of the Espirito Santo (ZEE-ES), a government instrument of control and land management explicitly based on the need for coordination between development and environmental preservation. Thus, we have as question, checking from the establishment of ZEE-ES, the articulation and materialization of the preservation and development ideas advocated as a new economic and defining model of a "New Espirito Santo".
