Summary: ABSTRACT
This dissertation is about of the theme of international migration, with the integration of Orthodox Syrian refugees in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, as an analytical clipping.The starting point for this study is the identification of the existence of a social network formed by Syrian Orthodox refugees, Syrian-Lebanese Orthodox migrants and their descendants in the Orthodox Society of St. Nicholas.It was identified that within the studied social network, there is a circulation of social capital, also converted into material and human capital.From that point on, the objective was to understand if and how the process of integration of these refugees occurred in the society of Rio de Janeiro.To this end, field research was carried out, carrying out life history interviews with the refugees. These interviews were analyzed from memory and identity studies.The analysis points out that there is a process of interaction between refugees and other network participants, but not an integration process.
